Short answer: there is no single "free tier." What exists is four separate allowances that stack — a daily credit grant of 60–100 credits, a daily generation cap of 5 per account, a one-off 20-credit sign-up bonus, and occasional promotions such as a 30-day membership giveaway. Each comes from a different channel, each has its own ceiling, and each was observed on a specific date.

The four allowances, side by side
The complete table of dated allowances — daily credit grants (60–100 per day in July, 88 per day in August), the daily generation cap of 5 per account, the 20-credit sign-up bonus, the annual-plan bonus and the 30-day membership giveaway — is published once, on the Seedance 2.5 free tier family page. Every row carries the channel it was seen on and the date it was observed; the Seedance 2.5 observations span 4 July to 27 August 2026 (the dataset now also carries PixVerse rows — see the PixVerse page), and where two disagree both are kept.
Why the daily grant is not a balance
The daily credits are a refill, not a stockpile. What you do not spend is gone by tomorrow. This is the single most common misunderstanding, and it changes how you should plan work: you cannot save up three days of allowance for one large job.
Separately, the 5-per-account daily cap is a hard ceiling that is easy to hit before the credits run out. On the observed channel, the cap binds first.
How far the free allowance actually goes
A finished clip is rarely one attempt. If a generation does not come back usable, a re-roll costs a full second attempt — so the real cost of one finished clip is higher than one generation.

attempts = ceil(clips ÷ usable rate) - There is no price-per-generation figure here. Prices change, and the credit-to-generation conversion is not documented by any vendor.
What is deliberately not in this number
Two things this figure leaves out on purpose, because the sources either disagree or stay silent.
- No resolution guarantee. The vendor's own blog does not state a resolution at all. Hosts fill the gap with 1080p, and one host advertises up to 4K.
- No API assumption. The vendor blog says access is coming soon. A developer report says it opened earlier. Both are recorded; neither is presented as settled.
