Free AI Video Maker: What You Can Actually Make Without Paying
A free AI video maker will make you clips, not a supply. On the channels observed here, the free route produces roughly five generations per account per day, clips capped at about 30 seconds in one pass, output that is watermarked, and a resolution no vendor document actually states. "Maker" and "generator" are the same product wearing different marketing — what differs between tools is the wrapper, not the allowance.
Every number below is a dated observation from one named channel. Nothing here is an industry-wide figure.

The one resolution claim that goes further — 4K — comes from a single host whose own plan table contradicts it, and from one pre-launch tester who was under NDA. Neither is corroborated, so neither is treated as the answer.
How many finished clips that actually is
Five generations a day is five *attempts*, not five finished clips. The only usable-rate figure in the dataset comes from one host, five test groups, one tester, using structured prompts that assigned one job per reference image: roughly 30% to over 60% of first attempts came back usable (2026-08-12). That is a single report, not a benchmark.
Doing the arithmetic on those two reported figures, and labelling it as arithmetic:
- At the low end of the band, five attempts produce about one to two usable clips.
- At the high end, five attempts produce roughly three or more.
So a realistic day on the free allowance is one to three finished clips of up to about 30 seconds each. That range is derived by combining a generation cap seen on one channel in August with a usable rate seen on another — no channel measured the throughput end to end, and this site does not present the result as one.
The pattern matters more than the count: a re-roll costs a full attempt. The usable rate is the variable that decides whether a free maker is usable for you, and it is the variable nobody publishes.
Three things a free maker will not do
- It will not bank allowance for a bigger job. The daily grant is a refill, not a balance — 60–100 credits a day as reported on Jimeng in early July 2026, 88 a day on 11 Aug 2026. Unused credits do not accumulate, and the two figures are both reported rather than reconciled.
- It will not clean up what you already made. Watermark removal on the observed channel is a manual toggle, off by default even for paid members, and subscribing later does not strip watermarks from clips already saved.
- It will not keep the same numbers next month. Free-tier terms on these channels moved between July and August 2026 without announcement. Check the date on any figure before you plan around it.
If you route through the API instead
The free web path is not the only way in, and the API observations are separate from the allowances above:
- Error codes seen: 429 (rate cap), 400 (parameter limits), 402 (insufficient balance) — 2026-08-04.
- Failure strings seen:
api error: 529 overloadedand connections lost mid-response — 2026-08-25. - What you get charged for: moderation and platform failures were not charged; generations you were simply dissatisfied with were — 2026-08-04.
- Availability is unsettled. Vendor material said API access was coming soon on 2026-07-31; a developer report said it opened on 2026-07-16. Both are recorded; the conflict is not resolved here.
That last point is worth internalising before you build anything on top of a free maker: the access surface itself is not a settled fact.
Scope of these observations
All of the above comes from Seedance 2.5 as seen on the channels named — Jimeng, Doubao, Doubao Work, Mina Labs, Lovart, BytePlus ModelArk and vendor material — between July and August 2026. It is not a claim about every free AI video maker on the market, and it is not a promise about what any of them will offer next month. Other models grant different allowances and this site has not measured them.
